Investment in connectivity, human capital, effective institutions, and inclusive strategies is essential for economies aiming to accelerate digital transformation. Analyzing data from 99 economies, the study identifies key drivers—digital adoption, infrastructure, human capital, and institutional conditions—across two phases: the early breakaway phase (2010–2015) and the catch-up phase (2016–2021). Recommendations focus on leveraging these drivers for future digital strategies, emphasizing the need to differentiate between inputs, enablers, and outcomes of digital transformation.
