Singapore Digital Office (SDO) and its Initiatives

SDGs Impacted

The rapid digital shift, coused by Covid-19 retrictions, exacerbated the divide between digitally-savvy citizens and non-adopters, and made it more critical to raise the digital capabilities of vulnerable non-adopter groups. That is why the Government of Singapore established the SG Digital Office (SDO) as a deliberate effort to raise the digital adoption levels of less digitally savvy groups, such as seniors and small business.

Impact / Outcome
As of December 2021, the SDO has trained more than 130,000 unique seniors and helped about 11,000 small business owners to adopt e-Payment services. These efforts have enabled these groups to reap the benefits of digitalisation in their professional and personal capacities. In support of Singapore’s ongoing efforts to ensure the continued inclusion of less digitally savvy segments, the SDO will continue to refine its initiatives to cater the evolving needs and stay current with the rapid developments in the digital landscape. The SDO has also expanded its volunteer pool to expand and enhance its reach to seniors, worked with community partners and grassroots leaders to identify new needs of less-digitally savvy, and mobilised the community to offer support and inspire participation in learning initiatives.
