The Asaan Mobile Account Scheme works on USSD technology, and the platform is accessible from any phone in Pakistan by dialing a universal code. A basic feature phone is enough (no Internet or App needed). Every Pakistani can open a bank account in 2 minutes and access financial services. Four million new bank accounts have already been created thanks to this platform. 32% of these accounts have been opened by women (vs. 18% of accounts opened by women on average in banks across the country).
