Rwanda launched the MSMEs Go Digital Project to support Rwandan micro, small and medium sized businesses to increase their revenues through their presence in digital marketplaces with a focus on women-run businesses. Supporting e-commerce is part of the country’s efforts to leverage ICT as a driver for growth and eliminate barriers to traditional face-to-face commerce while promoting awareness of e-commerce and building digital literacy within the wider community. To date, 2500 MSMEs have been supported by Rwanda and its partners including UNCDF to trade online using e-ecommerce platforms such as VubaVuba, Murukali, Olado, Imigongo and Mariketa.
