Project Agro 4.0 is accelerating digital agriculture readiness of Colombia

## Intervention context

Historically, coffee has been one of the most important crops in Colombia. It is a major contributor to the country's economy and a significant export. Colombia is known for producing high-quality Arabica coffee, and coffee cultivation has deep cultural and social ties.Avocado has gained prominence in recent years due to increasing global demand for this fruit. Colombia has become one of the major avocado producers in South America. While the agriculture sector is diverse, it also faces challenges such as land use conflicts, issues related to small-scale farming, and the need for sustainable agricultural practices. Efforts are being made to address these challenges and promote sustainable and inclusive agricultural development.

## Scope

The Agro 4.0 project of Colombia has taken significant strides to improve digital agriculture readiness in local context with a focus on priority crops

### Objectives

The project aims to strengthen policy recommendations on Agriculture 4.0 frameworks derived from a more significant period of time reading data from ongoing pilots (installed in 2021), the replication of pilots in more areas of the national territory and the inclusion of Blockchain use cases in the study

### Progress

Several pilots are ongoing for use cases of agritech in value chains of cocoa, coffee and avocado

### Next Steps

Area expansion: Reach 100 use cases and evaluate their suitability in more areas and new crops (Plantain, Cape Gooseberry and Palm), in addition to the previous crops (cocoa, coffee and avocado).
