Mumbai, November 14th, 2024: The World Economic Forum, in partnership with India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation, has launched the “Skyways to the Future: Operational Concepts for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in India” report, a pivotal document outlining a comprehensive framework for integrating Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) technologies into India’s transportation system. This report positions AAM as a groundbreaking solution to urban congestion, improved access to remote areas, and a powerful driver of economic growth. As India’s demand for fast, efficient, and sustainable transportation continues to rise, AAM technologies—including autonomous and electric aircraft—offer new opportunities to enhance connectivity, stimulate job creation, and support environmentally friendly transport solutions. The report was launched by Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, India’s Minister for Civil Aviation, earlier today.  “India is at the threshold of a transformative shift in mobility. The aviation sector is poised for rapid growth driven by the Government's objective of strengthening regional air connectivity. Advanced Air Mobility represents a pivotal step toward unlocking the potential of our skies. With the development of this Concept of Operations, we are laying the foundation for a future where air transportation is not just faster and more efficient, but also accessible, sustainable and inclusive for all Indians. Furthermore, the electric propulsion systems central to AAM align with India’s environmental goals, helping to reduce urban pollution and support India’s green agenda. AAM also promises to improve access to essential services, such as healthcare, by enabling air ambulance services and the rapid transport of goods to underserved areas. The India Concept of Operations (CONOPS) will also undergo validation through pilot programs, with ongoing discussions involving state governments to ensure practical and actionable implementation.
