### The challenge

The carbon-crediting system is evolving. With new technologies and global interest, there is new enthusiasm around expanding the reach, efficiency, and effectiveness of carbon credit systems and markets to encourage system participation and innovation.

### The solution

The Working Group on Carbon Credits focused on specific applications of blockchain in the carbon asset value chain. It outlined the imperatives for metrics and standardization of carbon credits on-chain in order to create a trusted system that is fast, affordable, and easily monitored. The group explored how quality is measured in the legacy carbon markets (and by whom) and generated a proposal for quality metrics on-chain that can balance long-term environmental, social, and economic impact.

## Recommendations for the Digital Voluntary and Regulated Carbon Markets
