# Financial institutions

Guiding and supporting financial institutions to enable nature-positive outcomes among their clients and portfolio companies.

## The Nature Positive Transitions Initiative

The World Economic Forum’s Nature Positive Transitions initiative is developing guidance for both city and business leaders on key actions to accelerate the nature positive transition. Unlocking the financial resources needed to enable those sector- and city-specific priority actions is critical to contribute to nature positive goals

## Accelerating nature positive business models

Translating the targets of the global Biodiversity Plan - to halt and reverse nature loss by 2030 - requires financial institutions and investors to take concrete action. To monitor and mitigate nature-related risks, mandatory and voluntary guidance on nature is being developed by regulators, central bankers and market-led initiatives, such as the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures .It is time for banks, investors and insurers to scale-up action on nature, both to seize opportunities and to mitigate physical and transition risks.

## Our approach

The Nature Positive Transitions Initiative seeks to engage with the finance sector to allocate and scale capital to promote nature positive business models. The initiative focuses on two priority areas:

### Development of a nature transition plan assessment framework

Development of a nature transition plan assessment framework for financial institutions to prioritize and locate relevant information and data to assess companies’ nature performance and inform their decision-making

### Facilitate collaboration
