AVB developed a 800,000 tonne per year green steel facility close to the town of Açailandia in Western Brazil. Our company's motivation is to show the world that it is feasible today to produce green steel with very low carbon emissions with low production cost (Opex) using 100% biocarbon (biomass) inside the blast furnaces.
Description of Technology:
The blast furnaces (BF) based plant use 100% of biocarbon (biomass), which is a carbon neutral raw material according to IPCC, to produce liquid pig iron with very low carbon emissions which feed the basic oxygen furnace (BOF) in the meltshop to manufacture various long steel products including rebar for civil construction application and wired rod for industry. AVB Green Steel Supply initiative is driven by our commitment to produce sustainable steel products to the world. Currently operating a long steel plant in Brazil producing steel with very low carbon emission steel (< 0,15 tonne CO2 / tonne of steel).
