Summary

"

Drax Power Station in Selby, United Kingdom saw the transition of what was once Western Europe's largest coal-fired power station to become Europe's biggest decarbonisation project by utilising sustainably sourced biomass. The next phase of the project is to capture the carbon created through the generation of renewable energy can permanently store it in the North Sea. The project is part of the East Coast Cluster and the Zero Carbon Humber clusters, where series of projects are working together to deliver decarbonisation at scale. Once fully operational, the project will capture 8 million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
