EMSTEEL Group, one of the largest publicly traded steel and building materials manufacturers in the region, has launched an ambitious decarbonization strategy aimed at materially reducing its carbon footprint. The company has committed to achieving a 40% reduction in absolute GHG emissions in its Steel Business Unit (Emirates Steel) by 2030, using 2019 as the baseline year, and is firmly on a pathway to net zero by 2050. This strategy is fully aligned with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategic Initiative, the UAE NDC 3.0 sectoral pathways, and the Paris Agreement. Reinforcing its regional leadership, EMSTEEL became the first steel manufacturer in the MENA region to achieve ResponsibleSteel™ site certification, underscoring its commitment to responsible sourcing and sustainable production. EMSTEEL also serves as Co-Chair of the Alliance for Industry Decarbonization (AFID) at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). The company was also named a World Steel Association (WSA) Sustainability Champion in 2024 and 2025, recognizing its ongoing excellence in sustainability performance, and holds an AA MSCI ESG rating. In addition, Emirates Steel received the WSA Excellence Award for Low-Carbon Steel Production in 2025, highlighting its tangible progress toward deep decarbonization and responsible manufacturing.
