Ammobia has the lowest-cost ammonia production technology with a 2x Capex vs Haber-Bosch, driven by our order-of magnitude lower pressure and up to 80% single-pass conversion using conventional catalysts. At lower operating pressure and temperature our plants can either be set up for dynamic operations, following renewable load efficiently or for steady production.

Description of Technology:

Ammobia has developed and is scaling up a novel, low pressure ammonia synthesis loop built to pair with renewable feedstocks. The technology incorporates a reactor system and a separation system. The reactor system converts hydrogen and nitrogen into ammonia at low pressures (20-60 bar, vs 200 conventionally) and temperatures (<400C, vs 500-600C conventionally) by integrating ammonia synthesis catalyst with ammonia separation active materials, the plant outputs pure, liquid ammonia .

Notably, the low pressure operation and heat integration permits dynamic operation, ie, real-time following of renewable energy generation, such that energy storage is not required and renewable plants are more cost-effective. Ammobia anticipates ammonia as a shipping fuel will be the largest growth driver over the next decades for clean ammonia and will serve that market by producing ammonia at the point of use with its innovative plants.
