Summary

With the pioneering project in Frankfurt, INERATEC is dedicated to achieving a fossil-free future. Within the scope of this project, INERATEC is building the world's largest Power-to-Liquid plant for the production of synthetic, climate-friendly e-Fuels. This plant will serve as a blueprint for global projects following, accelerating the shift away from fossil fuels. Starting from 2024, the pioneer plant at the industrial park Frankfurt Höchst, Germany, will recycle up to 8,000 tons of CO2 annually, by converting this greenhouse gas in combination with hydrogen into up to 2,500 tons of sustainable e-Fuels and chemicals. At this commercial scale, the plant will be the largest e-Fuel facility using the Power-to-Liquid process in the world. Transitioning away from fossil fuels toward sustainable and green alternatives is not uniformly feasible across all sectors. Thus, INERATEC targets the hard-to-abate sectors, such as shipping, aviation and heavy-duty transportation, where electrification is not a viable solution. To those sectors, we supply Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and synthetic Diesel and thus reduce their CO2 emissions and mitigate their environmental impact. For the chemical industry, INERATEC delivers sustainable waxes as base chemicals.

Description of Technology:

Power-to-Liquid technology to produce sustainable e-Fuels and chemicals for shipping, aviation and heavy-duty transportation

Sector:

Shipping

Type of Supplier:

Final Product Supplier

Supplier Geography:

The pioneer plant is located in Germany. The e-Fuels and e-chemicals are transportable via the exisitng infrastructure. This transformation is not confined to Germany alone. INERATEC already has global projects underway, including Chile, Brazil, Japan, Malaysia and the Netherlands, to ensure the global availability of sustainable e-Fuels. With our modular approach, our plants are easily and cost-effectively scalable and transportable. This enables us to establish our facilities in "sweetspots" rich with renewable energy and subsequently transport the products to where they are needed.
