Summary

HyWaves addresses net efficiency loss between PV power plants and electrolysers by introducing its power management and control architecture, eliminating the solar PV inverter, the electrolyser Power Supply, and most associated losses.

Description of Technology:

For green hydrogen production, the net efficiency loss between the PV power plants and the electrolysers amounts to approximately 10%, due to power conversion and transmission losses through the grid, with even higher losses when the PV plant is operated at a low solar irradiation level. HyWaves addresses these problems, in a radical way, by introducing its power management and control architecture, eliminating the solar PV inverter, the electrolyser Power Supply, and most associated losses. Our system delivers the direct current (DC) from PV to electrolyser without requiring intermediate conversion steps. While the traditional transmission chain is only 90% efficient, the H2Top switching approach is highly efficient, with 99.5% or more of the PV energy transferred to H2 production.
