## Unlocking the required ~$1.7 trillion annual investment for clean energy in EMDEs is one of the biggest challenges to achieving a secure and equitable net zero future

EMDEs (excluding China) make up two-thirds of the world’s population but receive only 15% of global clean energy investments. Most lack the credit rating or capital market depth to attract major investors.  Yet, certain solutions have proven successful across these country contexts and can serve as inspiration.Combining policy measures, finance mechanisms and de-risking tools offers important opportunities  to create a conducive environment for clean energy in EMDEs.
