## China's progress in monitoring and disclosure

Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs (IPE) is a non-profit environmental research organization from China that has focused on data access and applications since 2006. Today, progress in China’s environmental monitoring and information disclosure has enabled platforms like IPE’s Blue Map Database to track the performances of 16 million companies. Using the Dynamic Environmental Performance Assessment (DEPA) tool, millions of corporations are graded using a color-coded system and visualized on electronic maps.

## A unique data resource for green supply chain

This granular and dynamic data becomes a unique resource for more efficient green supply chain management and responsible investment. Some of the largest multinational and local brands have incorporated Blue Map data into sourcing standards to fulfill supply chain due diligence requirements and extend efficient management upstream. This has motivated over 27,000 suppliers to address their violations and/or measure and disclose their emissions. In the past three years, major banks have also conducted green banking due diligence on 2.6 million corporations using the Blue Map data.

## Digital solutions for Scope 3 decarbonization

IPE has launched the Blue Map for Zero Carbon that facilitates regional and corporate carbon emission data disclosure and tracks the climate action performance of major brands and listed companies. IPE has also developed digital solutions to enable more cost-efficient carbon management. Its digital carbon calculator has been utilized by suppliers of major brands to measure and report tens of millions of tons of carbon emissions. Some major banks tap into this service as well, with this year's target set to measure the carbon footprint of over ten thousand companies seeking loans. Working with partners, Blue Map compiles LCA (life cycle assessment) carbon emission factors and creates a catalog of carbon footprints of more than 20,000 products. The toolkit has begun to serve in Scope 3 carbon footprint measuring and reporting.

## Supporting the Fight Against Triple Planetary Crises

Today, our Earth faces multiple planetary crises with global emissions still rising. To safeguard the planet and its shared resources—including climate, air, water, soil, and nature—the Blue Map has extended its data facility to plastic, renewable energy, critical minerals and biodiversity. A Blue Map for Nature is being developed to digitally map three million square kilometers of redline zones allocated for ecological conservation. Several major banks have integrated the tool in their loan issuance evaluations.
