ClimatePartner is a German provider of corporate climate action solutions, supporting businesses with emissions measurement, reduction strategies, certified climate projects and climate-related communication.
The introduction of the EU’s Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive created new requirements for environmental claims and increased the risks associated with generic or insufficiently supported climate communication. ClimatePartner also needed to help its clients adapt their labels and communications before the new requirements took effect.
In response, the company retired its carbon neutrality label in 2023 and introduced two updated solutions: ClimatePartner certified and Financial climate contribution. It later published a certification programme, introduced independent third-party verification and developed updated label and communication guidelines.
ClimatePartner also published an EmpCo checklist, distributed guidance to clients and held webinars explaining the regulatory changes and available solutions. The case illustrates how organisations can respond to regulatory change by updating their own systems early and providing practical tools that help customers adapt with greater clarity and confidence.
