## Global Skills Taxonomy

Adopting a common skills taxonomy is essential for aligning the efforts of businesses, governments, and educators in addressing critical skills and talent shortages. It creates a shared language that clarifies in-demand skills, helps employers identify the right talent, guiding educators in designing relevant training programmes, and empowers jobseekers to showcase their skills.

### About the Taxonomy

The Global Skills Taxonomy is a comprehensive, structured framework developed by the World Economic Forum and its network of partners to define, categorize, and organize the essential skills required in today’s workforce. It serves as a common language for employers, educators, and policymakers by providing standardized definitions and classifications, fostering alignment and a shared understanding of labour market trends and skill demands.

### Taxonomy Structure

The Global Skills Taxonomy is organized hierarchically, beginning with two broad categories: Skills, Knowledge and Abilities and Attitudes. These high-level categories are further broken down into three additional levels that display increasingly specific sub-categories. At its most granular level, the taxonomy identifies 93 distinct skills. This structured approach enables organizations to pinpoint and measure critical skills in detail, aligning training programs, recruitment strategies, and policy initiatives with the evolving needs of the labour market.
