Governing Well: The Hard Choices Behind GovTech and Digital Public Infrastructure

About
Governments worldwide are accelerating digital transformation to strengthen public services and modernise how the state operates, yet the incentives shaping these efforts often prioritise speed and visible delivery over inclusion, accountability and the lived realities of citizens. The result is fragmented systems, persistent barriers for underserved groups, and public trust that is hard to build and easy to lose. Following the release of the GovTech Compass, this session moves from principles to practice. Members of the Global Future Council on GovTech and Digital Public Infrastructure will share real-world examples of governments navigating the hard trade-offs that arise across the digital transformation lifecycle, from strategy and procurement through to deployment and iteration, and reflect on where the Compass has the greatest traction, and where the most difficult challenges remain in embedding citizen-centred values not just in policy commitments, but in the systems, incentives and institutions that shape delivery on the ground.
