This project supports the transformation of South Africa’s energy system by applying AI and digital technologies. It includes the creation of a Research Chair in AI in Energy at the University of Pretoria.

The initiative will explore how AI can improve grid stability, integrate renewable energy, optimize energy markets, and enhance forecasting.

It also promotes collaboration between academia, industry, and government through partnerships and research activities.

In addition, the project will build local expertise through training programmes and knowledge-sharing initiatives, helping support a more efficient, resilient, and low-carbon energy system.
