Equitable Transition Accelerator

The green transition, driven by a rising urgency of accelerated climate action, is a transformative economic shift that impacts the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services.

Per the World Economic Forum’s Executive Opinion Survey, Colombian executives highlight the following socioeconomic risks from a green transition in Colombia:

  • Worker displacement risk –resulting from  Transitioning away from fossil fuels
  • Good and services accessibility risk – resulting from Greening transportation and mobility
  • Good and services affordability risk – resulting from Greening agriculture and food production

Additionally, executives are more concerned about access to financing for green investments than executives worldwide. Compared with the global and regional average, Colombian executives see higher risk in goods and services accessibility for consumers.

How might we address these risks and concerns while enabling a green transition?  What policies, investments, or collaboration mechanisms can deliver solutions that enable equitable green growth?

Activities and deliverables

To this end, in collaboration with the World Economic Forum, the Asociación Nacional de Empresarios de Colombia (ANDI) are launching an accelerator to enable public-private action in Colombia.

In the first phase, this accelerator will attempt to address these issues within the agriculture and food production and heavy industry sectors.  These sectors are significantly exposed to the economy-wide emissions mitigation efforts, are significant sources of employment, and key components of Colombia’s international trade. This initiative will be driven by local stakeholders and build on the existing research and innovative initiatives
