# Dominican RepublicGender Parity Accelerator

The Dominican Republic currently ranks 84th out of 146 countries on the World Economic Forum’s Gender Gap Index and 19th within Latin America and the Caribbean region. The most significant gender gaps in the country continue to exist around women’s political and economic participation and empowerment. Closing workforce gender gaps will be essential to the country’s continued inclusive economic growth.

## Activities and deliverables

Launched in 2022, the Dominican Republic’s Gender Parity Accelerator seeks to close the gender gap in workforce participation and remuneration, with a particular focus on vocational training and advancing women in STEM careers. It is led by the Ministry of the Presidency and the Ministry of Women and supported by the World Economic Forum and the Inter-American Development Bank. The accelerator’s action plan was finalized and initiated in December 2022. Over 50 companies and 20 public sector institutions have already joined.
