
# EcuadorGender Parity Accelerator

According to the World Economic Forum’s Gender Gap Report 2024,  Ecuador has closed 78.8% of its gender gap.  It is also one of the best performing economies included in this year’s Index, after climbing +34 positions since the last edition to rank 16th overall. The Gender Parity Accelerator in Ecuador aims to contribute to this progress, by increasing women's labor participation, close the gender wage gap, promote the advancement of women in leadership positions, and contribute to the creation of the First National Budget with a gender perspective.  


## Activities and deliverables

Launched in 2021, Ecuador’s Gender Parity Initiative seeks to close gender gaps in workforce participation, remuneration, leadership, and the future of work. It is led by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investment, and Fisheries, and supported by the World Economic Forum, the Inter-American Development Bank and the French Development Agency.The accelerator recently finalized its action plan through a series of technical workshops involving stakeholders from the private and public sectors, civil society, and international organizations. It will focus on advancing women in STEM careers and implementing of Ecuador’s Violet Economy Bill.
