Gender Parity AcceleratorThe most significant gender gaps in Guatemala remain in women's political and economic participation and empowerment. Guatemalan women continue to face considerable disadvantages compared to men in accessing the labour market. Closing gender gaps in Guatemala's labour market could significantly boost the country’s GDP—potentially by as much as 33.7 percent. While progress has been made—for example, the proportion of women in the workforce increased around 20 percentage points since 2006 (according to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report) —approximately one-third of the economic gender gap remains to be closed.


## Activities and deliverables

Launched in 2024, Guatemala’s Gender Parity Accelerator aims to increase women's employability, enhance the competitiveness of women-led enterprises, and expand economic opportunities for women in rural areas. It is led by the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Public Finance, the Office of the President, the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, with support from the World Economic Forum and the Inter-American Development Bank.
