# HondurasGender Parity Accelerator

Honduras currently ranks 82nd out of 146 countries on the World Economic Forum’s Gender Gap Index and 18th within the Latin America and Caribbean Region. Its female labour force participation rate – measured at 34.9% in 2021 – is one of the lowest in the region. Boosting the number of women who are active in the workforce will be essential to the country’s continued inclusive economic growth.


## Activities and deliverables

Launched in 2023, Honduras’s Gender Parity Initiative seeks to close gender gaps in workforce participation, remuneration, leadership, and the future of work. The Accelerator is being implemented under the leadership of the Secretary for Women's Affairs (SEMUJER) and the Secretary of Investment. It is supported by the World Economic Forum and the Inter-American Development Bank.
