# MexicoGender Parity Accelerator

Mexico currently ranks 34th out of 146 countries on the World Economic Forum’s Gender Gap Index and fourth within Latin America and the Caribbean region. Its most significant gender gaps exist around women’s political and economic participation and empowerment. Closing workforce gender gaps is essential to Mexico’s continued inclusive economic growth and could grow Mexico’s GDP by as much as 15%.


## Activities and deliverables

Launched in 2022, Mexico's Gender Parity Accelerator seeks to close gender gaps in workforce participation, remuneration and leadership in the tourism, ICT and agroindustry sectors – particularly in the south and south-eastern regions of the country. It is led by the Secretary of the Economy and Secretary of Tourism and supported by the World Economic Forum, Inter-American Development Bank and French Development Agency.
