Uganda hosted the East African Training Workshop on Machine Learning in Space Weather and Ionospheric Research from 8–12 September 2025 at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST). This regional event aims to strengthen scientific capacity in East Africa by providing hands-on training in the application of machine learning techniques to space weather and ionospheric data analysis. The workshop aimed to foster collaboration between local researchers and international experts, promoting knowledge exchange and regional scientific development. Key Ugandan institutions involved include Muni University, Busitema University, and Mountains of the Moon University, working in partnership with the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) and the Scientific Committee on Solar-Terrestrial Physics (SCOSTEP). The initiative is part of broader efforts to build sustainable expertise in space science across the African continent.
