Today Mongabay draws more than 2 million visitors per month and publishes stories in 6 languages, including one of the leading Indonesian environmental news services. In 2012 Mongabay.org was formed to facilitate the development of education and journalism initiatives and leverage its existing network, traffic and reputation. Since the launch of the 501c3, Mongabay’s team has expanded from 10 to over 150. It is also pioneering new approaches to environmental news reporting and provides journalism opportunities two dozen countries. Mongabay is influential on forest issues.
