Global Activator Network for Adolescent Girls' Health
The Alliance will strengthen cross-sector collaboration and address critical determinants of health- spanning education, hygiene, nutrition and protection to advance adolescent girls' health.
Adolescent girls’ health is a cornerstone of inclusive development and long-term national resilience.
Investing in this life stage yields high social and economic returns by improving educational attainment, workforce participation and community well-being. Yet, adolescent girls, particularly in low- and middle-income settings, face persistent barriers to accurate information, essential products and services and supportive social norms to support their health and well-being.
The Global Activator Network for Adolescent Girls' Health will mobilize governments, the private sector and civil society partners to advance policy, investment and action for adolescent girls’ health through a life-course lens. The expected outcomes of this collaboration are:
Stronger national commitment and policy coherence across health, education and gender sectors.
Scaled investment and delivery capacity to improve adolescent girls’ access to accurate information, quality care and supportive environments.
Reduction in preventable health and social risks, including early marriage, violence and school dropout.
Enhanced inclusion and empowerment of adolescent girls as informed agents of their own health and future.
Replicable model for other countries to advance adolescent girls’ health through the GAN.
