We are living through a seismic demographic transition. By 2050, 1 in 6 individuals, or more than 1.6 billion people, will be aged 65+. Global health and financial systems were not designed for this reality.
Far-reaching socio-economic implications are already being felt across sectors. Public health systems are under strain as healthcare costs are rising and the burden of disease is growing, particularly later in life. Financially, individuals risk outliving their retirement savings, pension systems face mounting pressure, and businesses are losing productivity as older adults are prematurely exited from the workforce.
Since global longevity challenges span multiple sectors and industries, the solutions require coordinated, cross-sector action. The Global Longevity Initiative aims to convene leaders from the public and private sectors, academia, and civil society to drive scalable solutions across health, finance, work, and more.
The Global Longevity Initiative consists of a Leader's Alliance and two initiatives, Longevity Economy and Healthy Longevity.
