Hardest-to-Reach (H2R)

Sub-Saharan Africa is not on track to achieve the goal of universal electrification by 2030. Acumen’s $250M USD ‘Hardest-to-Reach’ initiative is driving investment into underserved off-grid solar markets where traditional investors have shied away, and communities are at risk of being left without clean, climate-resilient energy. Acumen’s diversified approach aims to provide capital and accompaniment to match the needs of off-grid energy companies at each stage of development and capacity. The initiative aims to support the development of local enterprises and regional companies to expand and create a strong off-grid solar sector, including through the use of impact-indexed debt to unlock scale.
