The São Luís Hub is part of the Global Shapers Community, a global network of young leaders driving dialogue, action, and impact in their local communities. Founded in 2019, the São Luís Hub works to create community-driven solutions through youth leadership, social innovation, civic engagement, and collective action.
Located on São Luís Island, in the state of Maranhão, Brazil, the hub develops initiatives not only in São Luís, but also in neighboring cities such as Paço do Lumiar, Raposa, and São José de Ribamar, expanding access to opportunities and social impact across underserved communities in the region.
Our community is composed of diverse young leaders from different social, cultural, academic, and professional backgrounds. United by a shared commitment to inclusion and social transformation, members contribute unique perspectives and lived experiences that strengthen our collective capacity to create meaningful impact.
The hub develops projects focused on education, sustainability, social impact, cultural inclusion, and civic participation. Among our flagship initiatives is DiverCine, a project that promotes democratization of access to audiovisual culture while encouraging critical dialogue on social issues through cinema and community engagement in low-income areas.
Beyond social impact projects, the São Luís Hub also promotes community actions, internal learning experiences, leadership development opportunities, and events designed to strengthen collaboration, personal growth, and active citizenship among members.
The hub is led by annually elected leadership positions, including the Curator, Vice-Curator, and Impact Officer, who coordinate strategic direction, member engagement, and impact initiatives across the community.
By connecting local realities with global conversations, the São Luís Hub works to foster more inclusive, sustainable, and socially engaged communities through youth-led action and collaborative impact.
