About

What actually shapes mental health outcomes across societies? šŸŒ

We often think of mental health as individual — but it is deeply influenced by cultural, structural, and technological factors that define stigma, access, and support systems.

I’m honored to have been invited by Natsuhiko Yamada, MD to co-lead this session as part of The 2nd Global Health Initiative, a collaboration between four Global Shapers Community hubs: Tokyo II, Fukushima, Panama City, and Quito - in partnership with the Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo).

This session will bring together experts in public health and mental health from Japan and Latin America to explore these challenges from a global perspective.

A special thank you to Dr. Jose Ruales, Erika Ito, and Carlos Pavel Smith for their valuable insights and contributions to this conversation.

But this is more than a conversation. We will be synthesizing key insights from our speakers to develop a set of recommendations that will be shared with international organizations.
