# JordanGender Parity Accelerator

Jordan currently ranks 122nd out of 146 countries on the World Economic Forum’s Gender Gap Index and fifth within the Middle East and North Africa region. The most significant gender gaps in Jordan exist around women’s political and economic participation and empowerment. Despite high levels of education, only 14% of Jordanian women are active in the workforce. Increasing female workforce participation by just 25%, could increase the country’s GDP by as much as 10%.

## Activities and deliverables

Launched in 2021, Jordan’s Gender Parity Accelerator seeks to close gender gaps in workforce participation, remuneration, leadership, and the future of work. It is led by the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, the Crown Prince Foundation and Business Professional Women’s Association Amman. The accelerator has finalized its action plan and is in the process of recruiting companies to join and commit to action on workforce gender gaps.
