The Reporting for Business Resilience Initiative (formerly known as the Stakeholder Metrics Initiative and earlier as the Stakeholder Capitalism Metrics Initiative) is driving alignment toward a global baseline for the rapidly evolving non-financial reporting landscape.

## Phase 1

August 2019 to August 2020


### Research and consultation

Research and consultation phase to identify a set of universal metrics and disclosures, intentionally based on existing standards.


### Collaboration

Collaboration as a part of the Technical Readiness Working Group, including development of a statement of intent of the most significant voluntary standard setters, and also preliminary recommendations to the IFRS Foundation.


### Prototype

In partnership with the Impact Management Project (IMP) and Deloitte, facilitated the collaboration between CDP, the Climate Disclosure Standards Board (CDSB), the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC), and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), resulting in the publication of a prototype climate-related financial disclosure standard.


## Phase 2

September 2020 to January 2022


### Launch

Launch of the Stakeholder Metrics that aim to enhance how companies measure their environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities.


### Call to action

Call to action for businesses to adopt and report on the Stakeholder Metrics to drive greater alignment among existing standards and advance the development of a global baseline for sustainability reporting standards.


### Working group

Participation in the Technical Readiness Working Group, tasked with doing the preparatory work ahead of the launch of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) in November 2021. The work resulted in the publication of a paper of recommendations for climate-related financial disclosures, which is available here.


## Phase 3

February 2022 to January 2026


### Knowledge sharing

Establishment of dedicated communities to facilitate practical knowledge sharing and exchange as the global sustainability reporting landscape evolves.


### Global alignment

Driving the global alignment toward a global baseline for sustainability reporting by convening discussions with standard-setting organizations.


### Case studies publication

Publication of case studies on companies adopting and reporting on the Stakeholder Metrics.


### Memorandum of Understanding

Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the ISSB to 1) Provide insights to shape the development of ISSB standards and guidance; 2) Advocate for the adoption of a global baseline for sustainability reporting 3) Develop case studies for the ISSB Knowledge Hub, showcasing how companies address complex topics in ISSB standards.


### Support

Encouraging approximately 200 organizations that have adopted the Stakeholder Metrics to transition to ISSB standards, using the Illustrated Guidance document for support.


## Phase 4

January 2026 to present


### Encourage the adoption of ISSB Standards

Encourage the adoption and use of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) Standards as far as possible without adaptation, enabling consistent approaches across jurisdictions.


### Adovcate for global passporting

Advocate for global passporting arrangements under which jurisdictions accept reports prepared in accordance with the ISSB Standards to achieve an effective corporate reporting system.


### Connect reporting to decision-making

Connect reporting to decision-making (assessment of risk and capital allocation) and clarify what should be measured to provide better understanding of business and capital market resilience.

The initiative's name was updated in 2026 from the Stakeholder Metrics Initiative to better reflect its evolving scope and focus.
