Career Academy by Coursera

SDG Impacted

In April 2020, Coursera began offering national, state, and local governments free access to online learning to help displaced workers quickly transition into digital careers. Together, we have helped over 100 countries and 1 million workers, who enrolled in 8.3 million courses and credentials.

In 2018, Coursera partnered with Google and IBM to launch our first entry-level professional certificates. These industry microcredentials are designed to prepare learners with no college degree or prior work experience for well-paying, in-demand jobs in six months or less, with scholarships available for those in financial hardship. Since the pandemic, top companies such as Meta, PwC India, Salesforce, and SAP have joined us to launch certificates for over 25 digital job roles, and learners have amassed over 3 million enrollments globally.

These entry-level certificates are the heart of Career Academy – a career training academy from Coursera that allows governments, businesses, and academic institutions to reskill and upskill entire populations for digital economy jobs, with hands-on skills training, real-world projects, and branded credentials. Today Coursera partners with thousands of institutions to provide job seekers a path to a better career and help them gain the skills they need to achieve it. This includes national, state, and local government workforce development programs that offer free career training and wrap-around support services to help underemployed and underserved populations unlock economic opportunity around the world.
