# Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders launches scope 3 support hub

The online support hub will help Alliance members and their suppliers to accelerate supply chain decarbonization.

## Scope 3 upstream emissions

Keeping 1.5°C within reach calls for a 7% annual reduction in global emissions, against the current trend of a 1.5% annual increase. Now, more than ever, it is time to accelerate near-term climate action and decarbonize global value chains. Scope 3 upstream emissions are an emission hotspot for many companies and on average ~11.4 times greater than operational emissions. Yet, these emissions are notoriously difficult to tackle as they expand beyond a company’s direct CO2 emissions to those of its suppliers - and one company alone can have thousands of suppliers. The Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders, the world’s largest CEO-led climate alliance, is responding to the urgency with an ambitious Action Plan to tackle scope 3 upstream emissions. Member companies with a combined +0.5 Gt scope 3 upstream footprint, equivalent to the annual emissions of Australia, have endorsed the action plan as guidance. To facilitate the monumental task of tackling scope 3 upstream emissions, the Alliance has launched an online Support Hub created in collaboration between Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders members, ecosystem partners and Boston Consulting Group as content partner. It is designed as a one-stop-shop for Alliance members’ procurement- and sustainability teams as well as suppliers to drive supply chain decarbonization.
