# Quantum security

The Quantum Computing age is getting ever closer, and it will render obsolete many of the current encryption methods on which enterprises, digital infrastructures and economies rely. This is a significant risk that could prevent this technology's true value from being realized. Assessing this issue requires prompt action at the national and global levels. This is what the World Economic Forum's Quantum Security initiative aspires to do.

## The Quantum Security initiative is focused on building a quantum safe economy through three core objectives:

### Build awareness among leaders

Educate and create awareness among decision-makers to reinforce the vital importance of quantum security as a strategic priority.

### Secure the quantum transformative journey

Increase the adoption of a quantum risk management approach to enable a safe and resilient digital transformation.

### Develop thought leadership, capabilities and tools

Generate insights, capabilities and tools to address the quantum-threat aligned with strategic trends and best practices.

## As part of the Quantum Economy Network, the Quantum security community continues to advance quantum security collectively.

### Quantum Readiness Toolkit: Building a Quantum-Secure Economy

Accelerating developments in quantum computing pose new challenges to cybersecurity. The rise of quantum computers has the potential to compromise existing cryptographic systems, putting secure communications and data protection at risk. Organizations must adjust security practices and governance to address the quantum threat.

### Transitioning to a Quantum-Secure Economy

Quantum computing promises transformative simulation and modelling capabilities across a diverse range of industries. However, these advances in computational power will also introduce significant risks via the potential threat of disruption to some widely used encryption standards. While definitive timelines for both quantum computing applications and the associated quantum cybersecurity threats have not yet fully materialized, organizations must act now to evaluate their readiness to adapt to the quantum threat.
