## What is the challenge?

Rapid technological change, shifting economic conditions and major industrial transitions are reshaping labour markets worldwide, creating new job opportunities while accelerating job displacement and skills mismatches. World Economic Forum analysis indicates that by the middle of this decade, a significant share of the global workforce will require reskilling to meet evolving economic and business needs.If current trends persist, many students and workers will enter the labour market without the skills required to support productivity, innovation and competitiveness. At a time of heightened global risks, labour market volatility and accelerating digital and green transitions, strengthening skills systems has become an economic imperative. Coordinated action between the public and private sectors is essential to reskill and upskill workforces at scale, modernise education and unlock sustainable growth and resilience across economies.


## The role of the Reskilling Revolution

Launched at the World Economic Forum’s 50th Annual Meeting in January 2020, the Reskilling Revolution aims to provide one billion people with better education, skills and economic opportunity by 2030.The Reskilling Revolution aims to drive large-scale global change in employment and education by demonstrating how progress can be achieved on complex challenges. It focuses on piloting new models and templates for action, accelerating mechanisms for coordinating and funding collective efforts, and raising the standard for business leadership in times of major transformations. By reframing these agendas, the initiative seeks to inspire systems change and foster tangible, scalable solutions.
