# Skills matrix

Across manufacturing and supply chains, skills, behaviours and mindsets are rapidly evolving. New capabilities are emerging and some tasks are performed by machines. This skills matrix show functional skills, technical tools and behaviours and mindset that remain truly human on the production floor and across supply chains.


## Key observations on how skills are shifting

New skills emerge in response to new patterns of human-machine collaboration. We identified around 40% of new or emerging skills will be needed to enable full scale intelligent industrial operations.  These new skills include a growing demand for judgement, machine oversight, resilience planning and the accountability and governance of autonomous systems. Alongside these emerging skills, a core set of human skills remain of strategic importance and these include trade-off arbitration, risk assessment and prioritization, executive communication and storytelling.
